Obituary of Edward P Mayak

Ed was born in St. Petersburg and lived here all his life. He attended St. Jude Catholic school, Bishop Barry High School and SPJC. By profession, he was an electronics technician who worked for JC Penney's, RCA, GE and was co-owner of Signal TV and Electronics. Following retirement, he enjoyed working at Ace Hardware. His hobbies included fishing, watching his favorite teams, the Pittsburg Steelers, Rays and the Bucs on TV and being an avid fan and sponsor of both Dan and Rob Partelo at Sunshine Speedway. Everywhere he went, he was most known for creating friendships. He loved meeting people and was always genuine in his caring about who you were. He was a kind and loving husband to Bonnie, his wife of 47 years, and a proud father to David. He spent many years enjoying youth soccer with his son and grandsons, Jacob, Andrew and Matthew who were the light of his life. Life was not easy for Ed. He was born with heart deformities and underwent many surgeries throughout childhood and adult life. He never felt sorry for himself and was always upbeat, hopeful and grateful for all the dedicated doctors and healthcare workers who attended to him. We are thankful to Our Father in heaven who graced Ed with 70 joyous years and we have all been blessed to have known him. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; son, David and wife Tanya; mother, Ferne; brother, Ray and wife Michele. Three grandchildren, Jacob, Andrew and Matthew. Two nieces, Meredith and husband Charlie; Brittany and husband James; grand-niece Olivia and grandnephew, Aiden. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday, January 13 from 5-7 pm. A memorial mass will be at St. Paul's Catholic church on Saturday, January 15 at 9:30 am.
