Nancy Robinson

Obituary of Nancy L. Robinson

Nancy Robinson, 84, of St. Petersburg, FL passed away on December 2, 2021 surrounded by her family whom she loved so very much. She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years John Carroll Robinson. She is survived by her 3 sons - (John and wife Katherine, Dan and wife Jenifer & Larry and wife Sharon), 13 grandchildren - (Jeremy, Meagan, Shannon, Caitlin, Carrie, Justin, Michaela, Marissa, Jacob, Joshua, Malia, Jace & Chase) 10 great-grandchildren - (Jordan, Brianna, Makinzi, Shaylei, Davis, Aidan, Jesse, Elyssa, Ryleigh & Mila), 1 great-great-grandchild - (Anastasia), sister - (Patricia Burrows), 2 nieces - (Pam & Pat) sister-in-laws (Ann Duncan and Betty Robinson along with many nieces and nephews) and dear friend of her last 20-years - (Tommy).   Nancy was born on March 20, 1937 to James and Irma Sanders. She married the love of her life John Carroll Robinson on December 5, 1954. They started their life together in an apartment on Maderia Beach for about a year before moving to their house in St Petersburg, a place they would call Home for the rest of their lives. This home was not just a home to them but also was a safe place and home to their children and grandchildren.   Nancy was a member of Childs Park Methodist Church where she played piano for many years starting at the age of 14. Her first job as a young girl was in the soda fountain at Pomeroy’s Drug Store on Tangerine Ave S. in St. Petersburg. She always said that was her favorite job.  She went on to work part time at the tag agency and then finished her working career at AllState Insurance Company for 29 years, retiring as a claims adjuster in 1993.   Nana, as she was lovingly called, was known for the love she had for her family.  Despite having such a large family, she always made time for everyone. Her family was her life! She especially enjoyed the weekly family dinners she had in the earlier years. As the family became larger and more spread out, she still took time to meet for breakfast, lunch or dinner at one of her favorite mom and pop shop restaurants.   Christmas was a very special time for her. She looked forward to having all her family at home and loved watching everyone enjoy their time together. To make Christmas extra special she made a stocking for each person in the family. Shopping for her stocking stuffers would begin in January and continue all year long until she found just the right things for each person. Our stockings were not the plain red stockings with a name on them. They were beautiful hand-made stockings decorated with various decorations that were unique to each person. Each person knew their stockings even though they had no names on them. There was a special wood shingled wall in her living room where she would hang the stockings. What started out with only a few, ended up covering the entire wall.    Nancy was a very special woman to all who knew her. She was always finding ways to help someone in need. She never expected anything in return nor was she concerned about what others could do for her. There was never a doubt that Nana loved her family. She showed us daily, not just with words but with her actions. Nana exemplified love to all those she knew. The void that she left will be hard to fill but the legacy of love that she left us will give us strength for the days to come.   Nancy was a Christian and her faith in God’s promise of eternal life helped ease any fear of death, and in the end brought her peace knowing that once she left her life on earth, she would be welcomed into new life by the loving arms of her Heavenly Father. We Love You Mom! We Love You Nana! We Love You Nancy!   1 John 4:7: Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.   Funeral Location:  R.
