Joseph Noel Green age 82 passed away peacefully at his home in Saint Petersburg on Sunday August 8, 2021.
He was born at home in Bellevue, KY to Charles and Evelyn Green both of whom preceded him in death. He was married to Mabel Catherine Green (aka) Cathy his wife of 41 yrs and 8 months on 11/24/79 in Newport, KY. He lived in the norther Kentucky area until 1993 when he moved to Saint Petersburg for Cathy’s career.
He went to sacred heart elementary/ middle school. He went to North Kentucky State Tech vocational school where he took carpentry. He worked as a painter with his father and a tree man with his brother in law Melvin Gay. He served in the U.S. Army. During the 70’s he worked as a steel worker. When the steel plant shut down and he and Cathy began having children he became Mr. Mom. During those years he was a ball coach for his youngest 3 sons and supported Cathy in advancing her career and education. Once they moved to Florida and their 4 children were in school he went back to work as a night bakery manager at Kash N Karry. He retired from there in 2003 at which point he went back to the role of Mr. Mom to finish raising his children, help with raising his grandchildren and supported Cathy in medical mission work.
He was a member of Clearview Baptist Church in Saint Petersburg, but most recently attended Starkey Road Baptist Church in Saint Petersburg and Sandy Spring Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg, KY.
He is survived by his daughter Catherine Green of St. Pete, son Jason (Danielle) of Dayton, OH, son Jonathan (Nichole) of Mountain City, TN, son Jeremiah of California, daughter Judy Malone of Seattle, WA, daughter Joelle Maddux of Galveston, IN, daughter Polly (Perry) Hardy of Osgood, IN, son James Arthur of Colorado, son Joey of Covington, KY and son in law Mike Maddux of Kettering, OH. He was preceded in death by his son Joseph Charles of Ochloknee, GA. He is also survived by 28 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, brother Donald Robert and sister Mary Catherine Gay.
His memorial service will be held at Starkey Road Baptist Church, 8800 Starkey Road Seminole, FL on Friday 8/13/21. You may contact R. Lee Williams and son funeral home at 727-527-1177 for questions regarding arrangements.
