Obituary of Estelle Carlson

CARLSON, Estelle (39), of Largo, Florida, died on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 surrounded by love from her Sister Poppy, her longtime boyfriend and love of her life Jeff, and her faithful canine companion Houdini. Estelle was born on July 30, 1980, in St. Petersburg, Florida to Lon and Jackolyn Carlson. Estelle was an avid animal lover her entire life and brought every stray or injured animal home to care for it no matter how big or small. She never left the house without giving someone along her daily routine a compliment and making them smile. She had a unique sense of humor that made everyone around her feel at ease. Estelle had a wild spirit and lived her life unapologetically on her terms; many envied that about her. Estelle loved her family fiercely and being an aunt to Felicity, Jonathon, Mercedes, and Marisol was one of her greatest joys. Estelle met the love of her life Jeff through her brother Jon and they spent 15 years enjoying life together living in St. Petersburg, Florida; Greenville, South Carolina; and finally settling in their dream home in Largo, Florida. She enjoyed spending time poolside in their backyard with family and friends and watching sports with Jeff, her father Lon, and Jeff’s father Gary. Estelle was a fighter and stronger than most can ever imagine! It was often joked that she had nine lives like a cat and she definitely made sure she lived all nine to the fullest (LOL)! After falling ill, Estelle endured many painful surgeries, years of pain and suffering, and even memory loss; but, she never gave up and continued to love and play as hard and long as her body allowed. She left this world to finally be pain-free and spend her days in the sun fishing in Heaven with her mom, brother, Grandma and Grandpa S. and Grandpa C. Estelle is survived by her father Lon Carlson; sister and brother-in-law Poppy and Miguel Sandoval; nieces Felicity, Mercedes, and Marisol; nephew Jonathon and beloved boyfriend Jeff Scott. Estelle is predeceased by her mother Jackolyn Carlson and brother Jon Carlson. A memorial service will be held to celebrate Estelle’s life on February 8, 2020 at Fort Desoto Park near Shelter 13 beginning at 1:00pm. All are welcome to join as she loved a good party and would want everyone to remember all the happy times! Please feel free to bring a covered dish or party food as this is a celebration in Estelle’s honor. In lieu of flowers, Estelle requested memorial gifts be sent to the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).
