Obituary of Karen Thomas
Karen Cook Thomas, 56, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 17, 2019. She passed with grace and courage at her home in St. Paul, Minnesota. Her loving husband, Tony, and son, Hatcher were by her side.
For the last two years, Karen had battled the ravages of ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease). As a “born again“ Christian, she took on her disease with an iron clad faith, and a warrior mentality. She refused to let it humiliate her or define her. Her focus and grace was “awe-inspiring”.
Karen married Enoch Anthony Thomas (Tony) in 1991. Tony’s career took them many places from Florida to New York to Minnesota. Their son, Hatcher was born October 7, 1997. Motherhood became Karen’s career. The legacy Karen leaves is within Hatcher. Hatcher was Karen’s first and only priority. Her life’s work was her devotion to ensuring his success.
Karen’s style was classic and conservative, yet bold and colorful. Her temperament was sharp and candid. Her heart was thoughtful and loving. Her sense of humor was witty and delightful. She loved the beach. She loved to travel. She was a smart and spirited little girl, who evolved into an intelligent, beautiful woman, inside and out. She is deeply loved, and greatly missed by her family and friends. Karen is survived by her husband and best friend Tony Thomas, her son Hatcher, her mother Pauline Thomas, her brother Phillip Cook, and her sister Allison Cross. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Karen Thomas, please visit Tribute Store
