David “Dave” Dane, longtime resident of Brooksville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at the age of 84. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 18, 1935 to the late William and Regina (Christman) Dane. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. David served in the United States Army from 1954 until 1957. He then attended and graduated from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1961. He moved to the St Petersburg, Florida area where he was employed as a funeral director for more than 21 years, most of which was with the R. Lee Williams Funeral Home. In 1984, he became a sales representative for the Deaton-Kennedy Company until 1998. David’s devotion to the Funeral Industry was unparalleled. He became president of the Pinellas County Funeral Home Association, Florida Funeral Home Association, Georgia Funeral Supply Sales Association, and Florida Funeral Supply Association. He was also a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and Georgia Funeral Directors Association. David was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Disabled American Veterans. David leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Suzanne Dane and; Sons: David Alan Dane (Ellie) of Floral City, Florida Todd Andrew Dane (Becky) of Brooksville, Florida Grandchildren: James Kovel Gray (Carly) of Madison, Alabama Melissa Dane of Brooksville, Florida Kimberlee Shockley (Karl) of Brooksville, Florida Great Grandchildren: Dagny and Bode Gray of Madison, Alabama August, Liam, and Kentlee Shockley of Brooksville, Florida Niece: Alisa Carver of St Petersburg, Florida A visitation service for David Dane will be held from 6 - 8 pm on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at St Anthony the Abbot Catholic Church, 20428 Cortez Blvd, Brooksville, Florida. The memorial service will be held at 11 am on Friday, October 2, 2020 at St Anthony Catholic Church. Internment will follow at the Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102 Avenue, Bushnell, Florida.
